Actor Tramell Tillman has become a fan favorite for his breakout ‘Severance’ performance
Actor Tramell Tillman remains a favorite among fans of the popular Apple TV+ series Severance as the much anticipated second season draws closer to its last episode.
Milchick, a supervisor at Lumon Industries, a biotech company where workers are implanted with a brain microchip that divides their memories and consciousness into two separate existences, is portrayed by Tillman, 39. The actor, who was born and reared in Maryland, was a huge hit in the first season of the show. However, he is now getting even more positive reviews for his performance in Season 2, with audiences complimenting the character's nuanced plot and the emotional depth he added to his portrayal of Milchick.
Following its January 17 release, Severance made a historic comeback to Apple TV+, where its second season has become the most-watched series in the streaming service's history.Tillman has even generated some award speculation because of the large number of watchers. On social media, fans of the program have been urging him to earn an Emmy for his role in Severance. Tillman's performance on the first two seasons of the show has already earned him nominations for both the SAG and Independent Spirit Awards.
For members of the Black gay community, particularly those who might not pursue more conventional paths in their acting careers, Tillman's success as a Black queer actor continues to be a big source of encouragement.
At first, Tillman put his interest in acting on hold in order to work at a nonprofit and earn a degree in communications. But in the end, he made the decision to focus entirely on his acting goals and enrolled in the University of Tennessee's Master of Fine Arts acting program. He became the first Black male to receive an MFA in acting from the University of Tennessee when he finished his master's program in 2014.
Tillman now has another chance to steal a scene thanks to Severance. His new role in the upcoming Mission: Impossible: The Final Reckoning (May 25, 2025), starring Tom Cruise, will provide audiences another opportunity to observe and support Tillman's acting career — this time on a larger screen — even though the show's Season 2 finale is scheduled for release on March 21.
